The First International Symposium on Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE’08) was held in Varenna, Italy,
on June 10-14, 2008 (http://www.ialcce08.org). The proceedings of IALCCE’08 have been published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, as a set comprising a hardbound Book and a CD-ROM containing 150 papers, including eight keynote papers and 142 technical contributions from 28 countries. The extended version of selected papers included in the proceedings have been published in a Special Issue of Structure and Infrastructure Engineering: Life-Cycle of Civil Engineering Systems, F. Biondini & D.M. Frangopol (Eds.), Vol. 7, Nos. 1–2, 2011, 197 pages.
